Card of the Day - Five of Cups

Misc. No Comments »

I skipped the cards yesterday. I was just feeling so exhausted that I didn’t attempt to take the cards out. Today I have Five of Cups. The picture looks gloomy. The sky is dark and grey. One dark figure standing in front of three toppled cups. Blood like red liquid spilled on the ground. The person is completely shrouded in black. Two cups remain unspilled on one side but not noticed. There is a stone gate and a castle in the distant.

Blood red liquid make me feel that something important is lost. The black that the person is wearing reminds me the black on the Death card, which means transformation to me most of the time. This person is feeling the lost and cannot let go and move on. There are still other things remaining. If he could just turn away from what’s lost, he could pick up what’s left and continue on with a new beginning. Eventually walking through the stone gate (representing wisdom according to Robin Wood), and reaching the castle which represents accomplishment. There’s still hope. Just leave what’s passed in the past.

Is waking up with a headache part of the deal? Ugh!

Update, the card reflected how I handled things during the day. Nothing big really. Just small things. Things that I thought I didn’t handle well and that made me linger in feelings of regret. But one thing about doing the cards is that sometimes I reflect on the day’s card and realize that I am doing what it warns not to do. Like this day, I consciously told myself to move on.
