Three-card Saturday

Cups, Reversed, Swords No Comments »

In order, Five of Cups, Eight of Cups Reversed, Four of Swords Reversed. My three-card reading is for the week that follows.

Five of Cups, grieving over what’s loss. The figure in the card sees only what’s lost, and not what’s still available. He’s not looking at the distant castle that offers security. Or the bridge and the stone gate that symbolize transformation for the better. The sky is gloomy, just like his mood. If he just look up, he can see the way out of his grief.

Eight of Cups Reversed. Not moving beyond the present situation. Since it follows the Five of Cups, the situation is probably a negative one. All the cards carry a bit of negative too. This can serve as a warning not to linger in the negative. Sometimes we have a fear of the unknown and would rather get stuck in a bad situation because it is familiar. We need to look around and have a broader view. The card shows a person that has crossed the water to the other side, leaving the cups behind, signifying a disatisfaction of current situation and moving on. In the reversed poisition it can mean not moving forward. It’s not necessary negative, but with the surrounding cards it probably suggests that it’s best to move on this time.

Four of Swords Reversed. The card shows a resting stone figure. Swords hanging on the wall not being used. In its upright position it indicates a period of rest, introspection. A needed silence. Reversed it can mean no time to rest even when situation is stressful. Swords can be quite stressful. There is a star in the distant sky that represents hope, wish fulfilled. Even in the reversed position, a star shows a ray of hope. All the stressful activities are for a brighter future.

The emotional roller coaster is not over. It seems that I may make it worse by wallowing in the negative. But it also seems that I will finally get busy and move beyond the stress. Beyond the gloomy situation.

Note: 12.17.2006, 11:36am. Because of the situation that I am in now, I thought I would get a lot more sword cards than this. Even though I got a couple, but they seemed to indicate more on the actions to be taken than the worries, mental stress. Instead, I got lots of reversed cup cards. So I took a good look at myself. The worries seem to have turned into a troubled feeling that’s burried deep in the chest. Probably from procrastinating too long. I also tend to think things through, but still feel the stress inside. There’s just a feeling in your chest. A feeling that somethng is not done, or something is not correct.
