This is a card that I am not familiar with. It shows a man waiting behind a stone wall, looking out to sea that has no object in visible range. He holds a silver wand in his left hand, and another silver wand is securely bolted on the wall next to him. He holds a globe in his right hand. He’s confident that he has things under control. He’s just waiting for the results to come in.
The card appears reversed like most other cards recently. I must be really off-balanced. That’s to be carefully looked at. I consulted the book for help on this card. The upright meaning was quite easy to get. But the reversed meaning I wasn’t quite confident with. I would naturally think that reversed Two of Wands meant not waiting, being impatient. That can certainly be one of the messages. But the book indicated that it could also mean forced waiting, things not resolved. Lack of energy. This sounds very true for my situation.
I was immediately drawn to the wand bolted on the wall when I looked at the card. The stone wall also felt very important. The bolted wand can feel like a forced waiting period. Without a clear vision of what’s ahead, it can be nerve-wrecking. The wall feels like a separation. I think normally it would give a feeling of security. But in reversed it feels confining. Making you want to break out.
I think I need to exercise my patience today. Or watch it carefully.
Note: 12.18.2006, 12:45pm. Little did I know, my partner played a big part of putting things “on hold”. He’s uncertain where things are with work. It involves the possibility of moving. So, things are up in the air now and without immediate answers.
(Major arcana images grabbed from this Wikipedia page, minor arcana images from this page. I use Robin Wood Tarot which has different imagery. This is just to give you an idea of the card.)
