Card of the Day - The Empress Reversed

Major Arcana, Reversed No Comments »

Generally, when a major arcana appears, I feel that the influence goes beyond one day even when in a daily reading. It may indicate a present situation that can last for a while.

The Empress is pregnant and almost giving birth. She is comfortable. She is practical. She is spinning on a wheel even while she is dressed as a royalty. All around her shows riches. Abundance. Good work’s harvest. Nothing is lacking. She is about growth and progress. She is wise with experience.

When The Empress showed up reversed, I was a little sad. I turned to the books for assistance. I felt that this could mean lack of material comfort. Lack of satisfying result. Delayed progress. Difficulty in completing a project. I wanted to find something to cheer me up a little in the books. But the message was basically just that. I did find something interesting in Robin Wood’s description of the card. She mentioned a lake in front of the mountains as the backdrop of The Empress. I didn’t see it at first. I saw only the mountains. Mountains can represent final achievement, enlightenment. But what if I didn’t see the lake and ran excited toward the mountains? I would fall into the water. I wonder if there’s a message there. Setting the goals too high? Not enough groundwork? I think there’s something true in there.

Lack of result is certainly true in the present situation. But we’ll make it work for now. Oh, I also got a glimpse of Ten of Wands while shuffling. And I think it was reversed.

(Major arcana images grabbed from this Wikipedia page, minor arcana images from this page. I use Robin Wood Tarot which has different imagery. This is just to give you an idea of the card.)
