Ah, this is the card of the apprentice. No, not the TV show. It’s about learning. On the Robin Wood card it shows a young boy concentrating on making a wood pentacle. He pays no attention to anything else. There’s a window behind him with the one of the shutter closed, blocking the view outside. He’s really not very interested in the outside world at the moment. He’s learning to be a master craftsman. There’s a castle in the cloud outside, representing dreams. But he’s more intent on working on his project, not about dreaming. Six pentacles hang on the wall. They are made of different types of wood. Showing the experiments that he might have done. This is all about learning.
The window pane has a diamond pattern that reminds me of crisscrossing wires. It’s funny. Because I am blocking a knitted shawl with pins and wires for the first time today. It’s going to be a great learning experience because I’ve never had to stretch block a knitted piece before.
