Card of the Day – King of Wands

21 Feb

There are certain cards that keep coming up in my daily readings. Mostly wands and this is one of them. My first thought was, “you again!” I wonder if that has anything important meaning. I think this is the first time that I actually notice the wand is completely made of clear crystal. He has nothing to hide. His intention is clearly shown. I wonder if there is something that this king wants.

Note, 12:31pm, guess who called right after I published the post. My partner. Just sayin’.

Note, 1:39pm, you know, it’s probably this other person that contacted me and made me think, “not again.”

Card of the Day – Four of Swords

20 Feb

A period of rest. Especially for the mind. Time to be still. To relax. There will be renewed energy in the future as the star in the sky indicates. Hang up the swords and take a rest. Meditate and clear the mind a little. Funny, one of the blossoming fruit trees in the picture looks just like the cherry trees outside.

Got a conflicting message while shuffling. Ten of Wands popped out. Maybe the mind is enjoying calm and peace, but that doesn’t mean any less work projects. :-)

Card of the Day – The Devil Reversed

19 Feb

This really reflects how I’ve been feeling all morning. The whole family is here for the Lunar New Year. Every time there’s a family gathering I go through this inner struggle. Remember the Five of Wands from Saturday’s reading? Yeah. The family get-together is it. I’ll write more as a note to Saturday’s reading.

Robin Wood’s version of The Devil has no actual image of the devil. On her card it is very clear that “greed” is the devil. Two people trapped in a dark tunnel, not bound by chains or anything, but by their own greed. They are free to go, but they just can’t leave behind a big chestful of treasures, and the chest is chained down. Still, they grab onto the chest and try to take it with them. The opening at the end of the tunnel shows blue sky and green hills outside. Birds fly free in the air. They can see it and maybe even want to be free. But their greed got the better of them, and they suffer because of it.

I want to run to the tunnel. If I can choose only one thing, I choose freedom. At the family dinner last night, the conversation was mostly about money and fame, self-praising. And that seemed to equate love and respect to them. I didn’t hear anything about love without having to pay for it. This happens every time, and every time I want to run as far as I can. It’s one thing if they just talk amongst themselves. But they always have demands. And if I don’t agree, I am being disrespectful to the family. Sorry. I just don’t play the game “money = love”.

While shuffling, Five of Swords popped out. And when putting the cards away I got a glimpse of Five of Wands. Hmmm… interesting. I have to see what the book says about the number five.

Card of the Day – Eight of Wands Reversed

18 Feb

OK. I am ready for a nap. Seriously. It’s not just about what the card means. I went to bed late last night.

Its upright meaning is fast pace, speeding ahead. Things developing at a high speed. In reversed it probably means delay. Things not progressing. We have more family members arriving today for the Lunar New Year celebration. I wonder if there will be some kind of delay. I also do not look forward to my father’s visit. It’s a long story.

Note, 2.19.2007, 9:53pm, the day turned out quite frustrating. Our family dinner was not well planned. No one could tell me where it was going to be. My mom was going to call me and let me know but forgot. I finally had to call around when it was getting late. Got the location but not the restaurant’s name.

Three-card Saturday

17 Feb

Ace of Wands, Five of Wands, King of Cups

Ace of Wands. This is a good sign. New beginning. Revitalized. A new chapter in life. I feel the energy. I had gone through some obstacles. Now it’s time to enjoy the success. Full of life, full of energy. There’s a sense of “can’t wait to get started.”

Five of Wands. A bit of excess in energy? Five individuals, each holding a wand, are engaging in a competition. None of them looks hurt, so it might be just a friendly competition. They really do make a mess though. Forces work against one another. They are kicking up quite a bit of dust, obscuring everything in the surrounding. If they want to achieve some kind of goal, they will have to settle down first. I am drawn to the one with red-crystal wand. His wand is actually locked with the blue and the green. Red is for courage, blue for spirituality, and green for growth. They really should work together instead of locked in conflict.

King of Cups. Emotional balance. He sits comfortably in a lotus throne, above any turbulence. He holds a cup with a ying-yang symbol on it. He’s well-balanced. He practices the middle-way. He’s in touch with his emotions, but he does not let them overcome him. There is joy in such a peaceful state.

Oh, while shuffling, Death, Seven of Swords reversed and The Tower popped out. I am a little worried about the meaning of this, so I’ll leave it for now. Maybe I just didn’t hold the cards right. :-)

Note, 2.17.2007, 5:53pm, ah, I forgot. Tomorrow is Chinese New Year.
